spider love

London Artist Programme

A work-in-progress reading of a new play created by Jeremy Goldstein from an original script by Mick Goldstein; verse by Henry Woolf; directed by Jen Heyes

It was once the Promised Land and I was King.

It’s 1975. Harold Pinter is a world-renowned playwright at the peak of his fame. Childhood friend Mick Goldstein is down and out on his luck in Melbourne with two young kids and Aussie wife Bev. As Mick confronts his past and the memory of his younger self in Pinter’s The Dwarfs, their oldest friend Henry Woolf appears, and guides them to the gates of that other place.

Spider Love moves through time and space to celebrate the power of family and friendship, and the lengths we go to preserve it.

Spider Love is commissioned by The Arts Centre and has been developed with Harold Pinter Archive at British Library through workshop readings at Brisbane Powerhouse Australia, Barbican Pit and British Library London. R&D funded by Arts Council England.
