Place & Chips
What happens when we no longer feel at home in our own skin and can’t stop thinking about fish and chips and mushy peas, curry sauce and ketchup with bread and butter and a can of pop? Written and performed by Alice Bunker-Whitney, Place & Chips is a hilarious semi-autobiographical solo theatre show that explores the complex relationships we have with our bodies. A highly interactive, personal and riotous piece of theatre. Told through clown, physical comedy, story-telling and animation.
This video demonstrates some of the scenes from the performance and demonstrates the music and sound design I created for the animations. Using stop motion techniques, Laura Spark created representations of “embarrassing moments” that the character in the performance was experiencing whilst coming of age.
Watch this video and see the manifestations of the characters’ psyche come alive. As the character reaches puberty we meet the ‘Hair Monster’, the ‘Fat Monster’ and a musical and animated representation of her first orgasm.
‘Place & Chips’ was performed at the Unity Theatre, Liverpool
